Description of Externship:

The MIT Division of Comparative Medicine offers NIH-funded summer externships for veterinary students with an interest in biomedical research. The main focus is on laboratory research, but interested candidates also will receive instruction in experimental and comparative pathology under the direction of 2 board-certified veterinary pathologists. Mentored research projects are conducted within DCM or collaborating laboratories. The 4-12 week program has flexible starting and ending dates between May and August. Applicants must have completed at least one year of veterinary school. To apply, send a cover letter, CV, copy of veterinary school transcripts, and two letters of recommendation to Dr. James G. Fox, 77 Massachusetts Avenue, 16-825, Cambridge, MA 02139; jgfox@mit.edu. Preference will be given to applications received before April 1. Specific questions regarding the pathology component of the program should be directed to Dr. Arlin Rogers, abr@mit.edu. MIT is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
