Educational Programs
The ACVP promotes education in veterinary and comparative pathology
by supporting educational programs across the broad spectrum of
pathology including mechanisms of disease, target organ pathology,
pathology issues in safety assessment, and technological innovations.
The ACVP recognizes the importance of student recruitment into the
discipline and supports students through externships and scholarships.

Graduate
Student/Resident ACVP Travel Awards
Recipients will be awarded a grant to help defray costs associated
with attending the ACVP Annual Meeting. Submission of a poster or platform presentation
at the Annual Meeting is required. Please note that receipt of an ACVP travel
award does not imply that an abstract will be accepted for a presentation at
the meeting. Nominees must currently be enrolled in a full-time veterinary pathology
residency program and/or graduate program in veterinary pathology or a related
discipline in the U.S. or Canada, and have a demonstrated interested in ACVP
board certification. Application packets should be submitted by July 1.
ACVP Externship Center
There is a continuing need for well-trained veterinary pathologists for
positions in government, academic, and private sectors. To fill this need,
the ACVP has established a
Scholarship Program designed to support externship experiences for
veterinary students interested in learning more about activities of
veterinary anatomic and clinical pathologists.
Spring Deadline: March 1; Fall Deadline: October 1
Diagnostic Pathology Travel Award
The American College of
Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) and the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory
Diagnosticians (AAVLD) encourage trainees in veterinary pathology to participate
in the annual meetings of both organizations. The ACVP Diagnostic Pathology
Travel Award is available to graduate students and/or residents in veterinary
pathology for participation in the annual meeting of the AAVLD.
Casey Scholarship
The Harold W. Casey Scholarship Award annually recognizes and rewards an
outstanding individual training in pathology and striving to achieve
ACVP certification.
Young Investigator Award
Awards are given at the ACVP Annual Meeting to young investigators,
primarily veterinarians in pathology training programs, with the highest
quality abstracts and poster presentations on experimental or naturally
occurring disease.
William Inskeep II
Scholarship Award
The William Inskeep II Scholarship Award has been established by the American
College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) to recognize a veterinary student
attending the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine
and Biomedical Sciences who has an interest in pursuing a career in veterinary
pathology.

ACVP/STP Coalition
To address the growing deficit of veterinary pathologists in industry, academia
and government, the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) and
the Society of Toxicologic Pathology (STP) have formed a coalition tasked
with increasing the training opportunities in veterinary pathology. The
success
of this industry-academia-government collaborative effort is critical for
serving the needs of the biomedical community while serving as a model
for other research-oriented
specialties with similar shortages of highly qualified specialists. To read
