Pathology in Practice in JAVMAThe Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association (JAVMA) has
a new feature in their Veterinary Medicine Today section called Pathology
in Practice, published in cooperation with the ACVP. Editors
of Vet Pathol and ACVP Council encourage manuscript submissions from
pathologists, pathology residents, other veterinarians, and veterinary students.
Manuscripts are submitted to JAVMA and subjected to peer-review. One proposed type of article will be a diagnostic challenge with a case presented as an unknown on page 1 and resolved on page 2, similar in format to the ACVR’s ‘What’s your Diagnosis’ feature in JAVMA. The well-designed article will entice JAVMA readers with gross photos, and then demonstrate that interpretation and diagnosis in gross pathology often entails predicting the histologic appearance of a lesion. Diagnostic cases in which clinical pathology is integral to the diagnosis are also invited. High-quality color images of the gross lesions (or clinical aspects) and histologic/cytologic findings are important elements of this new feature and there is no charge for color figures within the page limits. Alternate topics might include specimen submission, updates on emerging diseases or outbreaks, and technical or other issues in pathology. JAVMA requires that at least one author be a veterinarian for student-authored articles, but does not require that any author be an ACVP diplomate. Instructions for authors of Pathology in Practice articles are on the JAVMA website: http://www.avma.org/journals/javma/ifa_pathology.asp . . . . . . . . .
