Dates and Deadlines

Important Information for the 2008 Certification Examinations

Please note the following examination deadlines for 2007. No exception will be made to these deadlines.

1. Application and fee (and study plan if appropriate) must be postmarked no later than January 10, 2008 and addressed to Dr. Derek Mosier, ACVP Secretary/Treasurer. The fee for all candidates is $600. It is highly recommended that applications be sent via certified mail, FedEx, or other secure mail carrier providing a traceable receipt.

2. A letter acknowledging receipt of the application will be sent generally within one week of receipt. This letter does not constitute acceptance to sit the examination.

3. Acceptance to sit the examination is determined by the Credentialing Committee and approved by the Council of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists generally in early February. A letter from the Secretary/Treasurer, announcing acceptance, provisional acceptance (for those candidates who are required to submit a study plan), or rejection will follow this meeting. Appeal against rejection as a candidate must be received by the Secretary/Treasurer within 30 days of the postmark of the letter of rejection.

4. If an applicant is not accepted to sit the examination, or if a signed letter of withdrawal from an accepted candidate is received by the Secretary/Treasurer post-marked by March 15, 2008, fees will be refunded minus a 10% processing charge. No refunds are made after this date, and no fees may be carried over to apply toward an examination in subsequent years.

5. The 2008 Examination will be held September 23, 24, & 25 at the Scheman Building, Iowa State Center, Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. Results of the examination should be mailed within two days of the examination.

6. Appeal against the result of the examination, with the $50 fee, must be received by the Secretary/Treasurer within 30 days of mailing of the results.
