Residency and Graduate Research Training in Veterinary
Anatomic Pathology. The Section of Pathology
in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Cummings School of
Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University announces the position
for training in anatomic pathology with the potential to pursue
a Ph.D. degree available starting July 1, 2010. Residency
training is based on diagnostic casework from the TCSVM Small
and Large Animal Hospitals and research material from investigators
within the veterinary, medical, or graduate schools. The necropsy
service at TCSVM provides diagnoses for more than 600 cases annually.
Biopsy service provides diagnoses for more than 2,500 cases annually. The
selected candidate will also be expected to participate in veterinary
undergraduate teaching, attend seminars, and complete core courses. Graduate
training and research will be conducted in collaboration with
pharmaceutical industry partners interested in addressing fundamental
questions relating to the pathogenesis of disease and toxicity.
The Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine is located in
a rural setting in North Grafton, Massachusetts 45 miles west of
Boston and 10 miles from Worcester. A commuter rail station
adjacent to the campus provides daily service to Worcester and
Boston. The region is noted for its numerous medical institutions
and biotechnology companies. The stipend starts at $31,000
per annum.
