GRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAM AND RESIDENCY TRAINING
IN VETERINARY ANATOMIC PATHOLOGY

Experience pathology training in a veterinary school with a state diagnostic laboratory accredited by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians.  The Department of Comparative Pathobiology (CPB) and the Indiana Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL) at Purdue University seek applications from veterinarians or veterinary students in the final year of the professional curriculum who are committed to a career in veterinary anatomic pathology.  This challenging and rewarding three-year program culminates in a non-thesis M.S. degree and fulfills the training requirements for the certifying examination of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP).  The program is based on supervised necropsy and histopathology service in the ADDL, graduate courses and seminars in pathology and related disciplines, supervised teaching assignments in CPB, and a scholarly project in diagnostic or experimental pathology.  The successful candidate will train with up  to 9 graduate students in anatomic pathology and 3 in clinical pathology.  Faculty members involved in pathology training include 15 ACVP diplomates.  Following completion of the 3-year pathology training program students will be encouraged to pursue Ph.D. opportunities in areas such as infectious disease, immunopathology, toxicologic pathology, or cancer research.  Beginning salary is $30,000 with benefits and a tuition waiver.  Positions are available July 1, 2010.  The DVM or equivalent degree is required by the starting date.  Interested graduate veterinarians or senior veterinary students should complete the online application at www.purdue.edu/gradschool/admissions/apply.cfm Application materials, including original transcripts, GRE scores, letters of reference, and statement of career goals, should be received by November 1.  Email questions regarding the application process to Ms. Barbara White, CPB Graduate Program Coordinator, at whiteb@purdue.edu.  Purdue University is an equal opportunity/equal access/affirmative action employer fully committed to achieving a diverse workforce.
