POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
VETERINARY CLINICAL PATHOLOGY RESIDENT/MS GRADUATE STUDENT

The Department of Comparative Pathobiology, School of Veterinary Medicine, at Purdue University is offering a three-year combined residency/MS graduate training program in Clinical Pathology.  This program offers:  1) broad experience in the areas of hematology, clinical chemistry, and diagnostic cytology, and 2) training that will enable the resident to sit for board certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists upon completion of the program.  Responsibilities include graduate course work in pathology and other disciplines which will be selected by the student and his/her advisory committee, participation in the clinical pathology service rotation, and teaching professional veterinary students.  The starting stipend for this position is currently $30,000 per year with benefits and a tuition waiver.  The tentative start date is July 12, 2010. This individual joins two other clinical pathology trainees and five clinical pathologists.

Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent degree.  Individuals who desire PhD training upon completion of the program are especially encouraged to apply.  Specific interests of the clinical pathology faculty include diagnostic cytology/surgical pathology, inflammation, immunocytochemistry, hematopoietic neoplasia, and clinical research.  General areas of departmental research interests include infectious diseases, immunology, oncology, toxicologic and environmental pathology, and epidemiology.
