Residency in Veterinary Clinical Pathology.  The Department of Physiological Sciences, University of Florida has 2 positions available for a 3-year residency program beginning Jul 15, 2010.  The residency is designed to provide thorough Clinical Pathology training for ACVP certification and provide basic research experiences.  Those who are qualified and choose to pursue graduate studies concomitant with or subsequent to residency training can do so through the College of Veterinary Medicine graduate programs of Physiological Sciences or Infectious Diseases and Pathology.  The supervised residency trainee is expected to provide diagnostic service in the Clinical Pathology laboratory of the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital through interpretation of hematological and biochemical data, as well as cytologic specimens.  Participation in veterinary student teaching and college seminars is expected.  Applicants must possess DVM or equivalent degree.  One year of postgraduate clinical experience is highly desirable.  Each application must include curriculum vitae, official college transcript(s), letter stating career goals, and 3 letters of reference.  Application deadline is Dec 1, 2009.  Contact Dr. Rick Alleman, PO Box 100103, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Florida, Gainesville, FL 32610-0103; phone 352-392-2246 (ext. 5858), FAX 352-392-2938, or email AllemanR@vetmed.ufl.edu.   A detailed description of the program is available at website http://www.vetmed.ufl.edu/college/departments/physio/residencyprogram.html.
