Veterinary Anatomic Pathologist

The Department of Veterinary Sciences and Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory at the University of Wyoming seeks an enthusiastic, effective veterinary diagnostic pathologist for a tenure-track position at either the assistant or associate professor level. Salary and rank will be competitive and based on experience. Duties are professional diagnostic service (65%), research (30%) and instruction and advising (5%). The position will remain open until it is filled.

To be considered, candidates will have a DVM (or equivalent) degree and be board-certified with either the ACVP or ECVP. A Ph.D. degree is preferable, but not mandatory. Desired traits are a commitment to work collaboratively, good sense of humor, a desire to serve the veterinary profession and animal-owning public, and a capacity to undertake meaningful research. A strong interest in disease investigation and applying molecular diagnostic methods will be advantages.

Ours is a small, energetic and close-knit department of 10 faculty and 17 professional staff members. It operates the only veterinary diagnostic laboratory in Wyoming. The laboratory is AAVLD-accredited and is known nationally for its work on diseases of wildlife. The department's responsibilities are to provide accurate, timely diagnostic assistance to veterinarians, animal owners, wildlife managers and sportsmen, to study animal diseases of importance in the Rocky Mountain Region, and to instruct undergraduate and graduate students in pathobiology. For details of the department, please visit www.uwyo.edu/vetsci/index.htm. Laramie is a university town with a population of 26,000, excellent schools and outdoor recreational opportunities, and proximity to cities along the Colorado Front Range.
