Tenure Track Position in Veterinary Virology

The Department of Pathology and Microbiology, at the University of Montreal's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in St-Hyacinthe is seeking candidates for a tenure track position in veterinary virology at the assistant professor level. We have recently added a second senior virologist to our ranks and are in the process of restructuring our teaching, research and service program in virology. The building of new laboratories, the creation of an Institute for Veterinary and Food Biotechnology and the existence of virology services for various animal species foreshadows the rapid development of new activities in virology and related sciences. It is within this context that the successful candidate will evolve.

Duties
To participate in teaching students enrolled in the DVM curriculum and in teaching and training of MSc and PhD students; to develop an autonomous research program in the area of virology, financed by peer reviewed funding agencies; collaboration with ongoing research will also be encouraged; to participate in diagnostic activities and to contribute to the functioning of the University.

Requirements
A DVM degree or its equivalent; a PhD degree in the area of virology; post doctoral training or research experience equivalent to it would be an asset; and licensed to practice veterinary medicine in Quebec. The working language at University of Montreal is French.

Salary
Commensurate with qualifications and experience within the confines of the salary scale established by the collective agreement between the University of Montreal and the University's Teachers Union.

Starting date: 01 January 2004 or by mutual agreement.
