Veterinary Pathologist The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Veterinary Division, announces a challenging and rewarding employment opportunity that includes necropsy, histopathology, case coordination and consultation with submitting veterinarians. The caseload is diverse with many species of animals represented and will satisfy anyone interested in pursuing diagnostic pathology. There is also the opportunity to develop species specialization. The Rollins Laboratory is an AAVLD accredited participant in the USDA National Animal Health Laboratory Network initiative. The Rollins Laboratory provides support to North Carolina's extensive swine, poultry and livestock industries, in addition to providing diagnostic services for a diverse companion animal population. The Rollins Laboratory is the central laboratory for a system of 4 additional branch laboratories scattered throughout the state. BSL3 capabilities, currently under construction, will enhance the system's ability in providing early recognition of emergent and economically devastating diseases. The position affords the opportunity for professional growth through close interaction with pathologists and diagnosticians with diverse backgrounds. In addition, the pathologists and diagnosticians at the Rollins Laboratory participate and interact weekly in various activities and rounds with the faculty of the North Carolina State University Department of Pathology. Qualifications: A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited college of veterinary medicine and eligibiltiy for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in North Carolina are required. Certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists is required.
