Assistant Professor of Anatomical and Molecular Pathology
The College of Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State University invites applications for an Assistant Professor tenure-track position in Anatomical and Molecular Veterinary Pathology. The primary focus of the position will be development of a molecular based nationally and internationally recognized, extramurally funded research program, graduate education, and leading the development of a graduate course in molecular pathology and diagnostics. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will become a member of the proposed Center for the Study of Molecular Mechanisms of Animal Diseases. Faculty research strengths include the molecular pathogenesis of viral, bacterial and parasitic infections, viral and chemical carcinogenesis, cytogenetics of cancer, transgenic animal models for improved health and drug development, cutaneous toxicology and pharmacokinetics. In support of college-wide research programs, a new 100,000 square foot research building will open on the veterinary campus in 2005.

The position will have a 65% commitment to research and a 30% commitment to teaching, diagnostic pathology service, or a combination of the two plus a 5% commitment to committee and governance service within the university and professional societies. Percentage assignment in each area is negotiable, and during the first 3 years, a greater percent of time may be committed to research.

Qualified applicants for this position must have DVM (or equivalent) and PhD degrees. Preference will be given to applicants who are diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists.
