Development Pathologist

Description
The Development Sciences Department of Genentech is seeking a Pathologist-Scientist. Development Sciences Pathologists at Genentech provide scientific leadership and play an active role in the process of drug development from late-stage research through marketed products. Working in a team environment, Development Sciences pathologists participate in the design, implementation and data analysis of both GLP and non-GLP investigative studies to ensure the comprehensive, highly integrated safety profiling of Genentech drug candidates. Responsibilities include interdisciplinary project team participation and leadership, design and conduct of investigative and mechanistic studies, peer review of regulatory studies, representation of Genentech in meetings with regulatory authorities as needed, functional area mentorship, and participation in safety, biomarker and diagnostic development programs.

Requirements
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Capability to build productive cross-functional collaborations both within and external to Genentech. Active commitment to and enthusiasm for gaining understanding of mechanisms of toxicity and disease. Industry experience is desirable as well as expertise in the identification, development and use of existing and novel animal models of disease. DVM/VMD and board certification in Veterinary Pathology. PhD or equivalent experience in pathology or related discipline. Please send resumes to flaufer@gene.com.
