MICROBIOLOGIST TO WORK IN VIRAL, BACTERIAL, AND/OR TOXIN THERAPUETICS
AND PATHOGENESIS
DUTIES: An experienced Electron Microscopist is
required to plan, conduct, and provide the technical management of
the electron microscopy portions of USAMRIID studies and in the interpretation
of ultrastructural changes in study materials at the cellular and tissue
levels. Most studies involve research on the pathology of bacterial
and viral pathogens and toxins of interest to the military. A successful
candidate must demonstrate the ability to provide expertise in the
planning and execution of electron microscopy methodologies and the
ability to interpret normal and abnormal ultrastructural tissue and
cellular changes related to a variety of conditions. The candidate
must have excellent written and oral communication skills, strong project
management skills, and the ability to work cooperatively in a collaborative,
cross-functional team environment.
LOCATION OF POSITION: USAMRIID, Division of Pathology, Fort
Detrick, MD 21702-5011
TYPE OF POSITION: Term Position (Not to Exceed 5 Years, with
option to become PERMANENT POSITION)
SALARY: DB-0403-03, Microbiologist, (salary range is $86,927
to $133,543 annually)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION: MD, DVM, PhD, or related degree in the biological
sciences (Microbiology, Immunology, Virology or other related specialty)
to include 3 or more years of relevant experience in electron microscopy
involving animal or human tissues
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Three (3) years experience as a Post Doctoral Fellow.
- Familiarity/experience with writing animal use protocols.

recreation areas, excellent utilities, and access to major metropolitan
areas. Situated between Baltimore, Maryland and Washington, D.C., Frederick
