Faculty Position in Veterinary Clinical Pathology

The Department of Pathology, College of Veterinary Medicine at The University of Georgia, invites applications for a faculty position in veterinary clinical pathology. The position can be either clinical (non-tenure) or tenure track with appointment at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor. Additionally, there is flexibility for either a full-time twelve-month or an academic year appointment.

The successful applicant will join a team that includes 22 pathologists (including 5 clinical pathologists), anatomic and clinical pathology residents, research scientists, and graduate students. Departmental centers of research emphasis include pathogenesis of infectious disease in food-producing, avian, wildlife and aquatic animals, molecular diagnostics, genomics and proteomics, tumor pathobiology, neuropathogenesis of rabies, soft tissue physiology and repair, and laboratory animal pathology.

Applicants must possess at least a DVM or equivalent degree and be certified by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (or equivalent). Duties will vary according to the type of appointment and interests of the candidate; however, diagnostic and instructional activities will involve a significant portion of those duties.

The University of Georgia is located in Athens GA, a vibrant and diverse community of just over 100,000 residents and is nestled in the wooded Piedmont hills of northeast Georgia. Offering the amenities of a cosmopolitan city, the surrounding area also affords a wide variety of recreation and entertainment choices. Athens is located 1½ hours from Atlanta, two hours from the Appalachian Trail, and four hours from the Atlantic coast.
