QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
qualifications include a D.V.M. degree (or equivalent), a record of
excellent scholarship in veterinary pathology, and diplomate status
in the American College of Veterinary Pathologists. A Ph.D. degree
is desired but not required if the candidate has a record of excellent
scholarship in clinical or basic research. Applicants must have
demonstrated a strong commitment to students and residents through
high quality instruction and service.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The
successful candidate will engage graduate students, residents, and
veterinary students in classroom teaching, diagnostic service, and
research activities that advance the mission of the College. The
approximate distribution of effort will be 40% research, 50% instruction/clinical
service, and 10% university service.
SCOPE OF ACTIVITIES:
The
Department of Pathobiology fosters a multidisciplinary approach to
research in support of Auburn University’s established and emerging
strengths in animal transgenics, magnetic resonance imaging, and molecular
therapeutics. Ongoing areas of departmental research include parasitology,
molecular virology/bacteriology, molecular oncology, landscape phage
technology, vaccine immunology, platelet pathophysiology, embryo-pathogen
interactions, poultry diseases, and comparative neuropathology. Diagnostic
services administered by the department include anatomic and clinical
pathology, parasitology, microbiology, and molecular diagnostics. University
core facilities support advanced microscopy and imaging, genetic analysis,
and flow cytometry-FACS.
APPOINTMENT:
Starting
salary, supporting resources, and position title will be commensurate
with credentials and experience.
