When it comes to saving lives, we need talented heroes
Toxicological
Pathologists
Ware - Hertfordshire, South East England
At GlaxoSmithKline, we understand
that the fewer barriers there are, the better our work can be. That’s
why we encourage our strong UK team of Toxicological Pathologists to
take a more autonomous role when assessing the safety profile of our
key compounds. It means they enjoy a greater sense of ownership in
helping to take new assets to market.
Then there’s our brand new state-of-the-art facility
on the R&D
Ware site, the international profile of our products, and a pipeline
of 149 pharmaceutical and vaccine projects that’s the envy of
the Industry. Of course, the size of the team itself also gives pathologists
the freedom to grow and develop. In addition, a Project Pathologist
model has recently been implemented where you will find yourself fully
aligned with the projects with full accountability & exposure,
being the first port of call for pathology issues throughout the lifetime
of allocated projects. The diversity of projects you would be involved
with is a unique opportunity to develop your expertise and work across
a number of therapeutic areas, especially biopharmaceuticals, respiratory,
inflammation and neurology from the earliest stages through to marketing.
In short, for highly motivated veterinary graduates experienced
in histopathology, there’s really no better place to be.
Responsible for assessing the safety of
novel compounds, you’ll
undertake routine and investigative studies to evaluate drug candidates
within the Regulatory environment, while also supporting a variety
of Discovery Research programmes. As well as applying your histopathology
expertise, you’ll
get involved in molecular pathology and mechanistic investigations.
In addition, you’ll enjoy the
opportunity to build your skills in drug development as a project specialist
and through peer review. For appropriate candidates there are also
opportunities to develop line management / leadership and business
skills.
You will be a flexible, highly motivated veterinary graduate
with a sound knowledge of toxicological pathology. In addition, skills
in research and/or pathology-related disciplines, awareness of current
developments in molecular pathology and a keen problem-solving mind
will be essential. A postgraduate qualification (FRCPath or DipECVP
/ DipACVP) in pathology is preferred but training will be provided
as necessary.
This is a truly
remarkable opportunity to develop your career beyond traditional boundaries,
and play a central role in the creation of drugs that will enable people
around the world to lead longer, healthier, happier lives.
If you’re
ready for this challenge, please contact, under strict confidentiality
via email: pathology.recruitment@gsk.com and we will contact you.
Closing
date for applications: 24th November 2009.
