Title: Sr. Principal Vet Pathologist
Location: New Brunswick, NJ
The Drug Safety Evaluation department of Bristol-Myers Squibb in New
Brunswick, NJ has a current opening for a creative and dynamic anatomic
pathologist at the Senior Principal Veterinary Pathologist level.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
- Interacts with colleagues, i.e., project team representatives,
study directors, and pathologists, in all phases of toxicology study
conduct including design, protocol development, and reporting.
- Performs gross and microscopic examinations of animal tissues,
interprets findings, and investigates the significance of clinical
pathology, organ weight, necropsy, and/or histopathology data from
toxicology studies to drug registration and safety.
- Conducts pathology peer reviews.
- Ensures compliance with GLPs, SOPs, safety, and animal welfare
guidelines and state and federal regulations applicable to functional
area or laboratory.
- Presents results to project teams and management.
- Provides technical and/or scientific expertise in the selection,
evaluation, and application of potential biomarkers of toxicity.
- Provides consultation on unusual or complex anatomic pathology
findings.
- Trains, supervises necropsy/histology technicians in new laboratory
procedures and investigative methodologies and may manage the operation
of a specific laboratory or function.
- Contributes/collaborates in investigative/hypothesis-driven projects
including project design, implementation, data interpretation, and
follow-up study design to resolve toxicology-related issue.
- Provides scientific expertise in anatomic pathology and comprehensive
knowledge of pathophysiology and comparative disease to interpret
diverse data sets, impact issue resolution, and influence development
programs.
- Utilizes technical awareness or experience in specialized pathology
techniques, such as immunohistochemistry, image analysis, electron
microscopy, biomarker development, genetically modified animal markers,
and/or molecular biology to support investigative projects designed
to resolve toxicity issues.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- D.V.M. or equivalent.
- Post-doctoral training (M.S. or Ph.D). Diplomate, ACVP or equivalent.
- Minimum of 7 years of postdoctoral combined experience in industry
and academia.
- Knowledge of GLPs and animal welfare regulations.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in both oral and written communication
of ideas and complex concepts.
- Experience in using routine desktop computer applications and computerized
pathology data collection systems.
