Provide leadership and operational management of assigned special
projects within Translational Sciences. Provide scientific, strategic
and management expertise to enable resulting operational excellence
and efficiency recommendations to become business as usual.
Major Accountabilities
- Lead assigned projects within Translational Sciences (For example.
Implementation of Electronic Health Records, Customized Therapies,
Site and Investigator Selection optimization). Assignments will be
defined as per objectives.
- Manage the assigned projects - define tasks,
dependencies, resources and budget to complete the project according
to the required timelines.
- Provide the strategy for implementation
of the project - define and write the operational and logistical
plan.
- Provide background information and training to staff in TS as
required.
- Provide regular updates to the TS Leadership Team on the
status of the project 6. Ensure all required internal and external
stakeholders are involved in the required steps of the project.
- Manage
collaborations with external companies and institutions.
- Assist with
any other tasks related to TS strategy as assigned e.g. Portfolio
Reviews, Advise on improvement of processes.
- Work with Global Head,
Translational Medicine Scientific Operations to enhance operational
excellence and efficiency.
- Work with Global Head, of Translational
Sciences Outsourcing to enhance operational excellence and efficiency.
Key Performance Indicators
- Effectively lead assigned projects to
completion within set timelines and budget.
- Implementation of new
business processes.
- Adherence to Novartis Values and Behaviors.Ideal
Background:
Education (minimum/desirable):
PhD, MD or PharmD level scientist or life science background with
at least 5 years relevant experience. MBA is preferred.
Languages:
Fluent oral and written English
Experience/Professional requirement:
- Strong knowledge of both early and late phases of pharma-ceutical
drug development
- Proven team leadership skills on complex projects
- Ability deal
with project start-up activities and implementa-tion
- Excellent communicator "" good
presentation and strong medical / scientific writing skills
- Excellent
team work in a multidisciplinary environment
- Excellent organizational
skills, as well as predisposition for innovation
- Recognized for combining
operational and scientific excel-lence in Drug Development
