IDEXX Laboratories is currently conducting a search for an
experienced anatomic pathologist to join our newest reference laboratory,
which opened in Memphis, Tennessee in November 2008. When fully staffed
the Memphis lab will employ over 50 people working in the areas of
hematology, histology, microbiology, chemistry, serology, parasitology,
immunology and pathology.
Memphis residents enjoy the benefits of being
in a culturally vibrant city with a reasonable cost of living, temperate
climate, and easy access to recreational activities in the city’s
many parks or the nearby Ozark and Smoky Mountains.
Primary responsibilities of the Anatomic Pathologist will include:
- Providing clients with diagnostic evaluation and consultation in
the area of anatomic pathology, including both microscopic and gross
evaluation of surgical biopsy specimens.
- Consulting with clients regarding interpretation of pathology reports
and other laboratory data, and responding to client inquiries.
- Partnering with the Regional Head of Anatomic Pathology and the
laboratory manager to ensure the quality of results in the laboratory,
and working in conjunction with other anatomic and clinical pathologists
to allow optimum turn around time of client submissions. The pathologist
is expected to meet caseload and turnaround expectations and to be
accessible for client consultations during regular working hours.
A high level of importance is placed on quality, service, timeliness,
and client satisfaction.
The pathologist is also expected to promote the growth of IDEXX Laboratories
by actively participating in pathologist meetings and professional
contact with clients.
The position is full-time salaried with a 5-day workweek.
Qualifications: DVM (or equivalent) plus board certification
or board eligibility by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists
(or equivalent certifying organization). Prior experience in a diagnostic laboratory
setting is preferred but not required.
