Veterinary Research Pathologist
The selected candidate will provide leadership in pathology relative to safety
and efficacy assessment of molecules in discovery and development. The candidate
will work concurrently with internal scientists and Lilly's FIP net partnerships
providing valuable insights in translational medicine and toxicology. The selected
individual will focus on developing both new biological and new molecular entities;
provide oversight of preclinical studies from FHD to registration; and bear responsibility
for interpretation of morphologic and clinical pathology data used in support
of compound development. The individual will be part of a multidisciplinary team
whose objective is to fully characterize the toxicity of new drugs and to provide
perspective on the relevance of these findings for human clinical trials by providing
leadership in investigative pathology & toxicology; and drug safety, and
biomarker utilization.
KEY OBJECTIVES/DELIVERABLES:
- Responsibilities include direct interactions with external partners,
peer review, report writing and representation of Pathology as needed
both internally (drug development teams and internal review boards)
and externally (regulatory agencies and scientific collaborations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (or equivalent)
- Ph.D. in Pathology or related field
- Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathology
- At least 5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience
ADDITIONAL SKILLS/PREFERENCES:
- Experience in late stage drug development and understanding of domestic
and international regulations is desirable.
