Veterinary Anatomic Pathologist

The Veterinary Population Medicine Department at the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine is recruiting a veterinary anatomic pathologist to fill a full-time annually renewable position with an emphasis on experimental pathology.  This position will be an academic professional at the rank of Assistant or Associate Clinical Professor.  The final rank and terms of appointment will depend on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate consistent with collegiate and University policies.

The position will be located in the College of Veterinary Medicine on the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota.  The successful candidate will interact closely with University research centers, such as the Masonic Cancer Center (http://www.cancer.umn.edu/research/cores/comppath/index.html) and the Schulze Diabetes Institute (http://www.surg.umn.edu/diabinst/home.html).  Duties will include experimental pathology research services through the Cancer Center and the Diabetes Institute.  Successful candidate will also be involved in teaching pathology (lectures and laboratories) to professional students and pathology resident training.  Depending on the interests of the candidate, there are additional opportunities to participate in the surgical pathology service of the Veterinary Medical Center and to conduct independent or collaborative research.

The candidate must have a DVM or an equivalent foreign degree and have sufficient training and credentials to qualify for anatomic pathology boards (ACVP or ECVP) by start date.  Board certification in anatomic pathology (ACVP or ECVP) is highly desirable.  Other desired qualifications include an advanced degree (M.S., Ph.D. or equivalent), experience in laboratory animal pathology, and interest in experimental pathology. Expertise or interest in metabolic diseases, experimental transplantation or cancer pathology is also desirable.
