Title: Senior Pathologist

Position Summary:

Major Duties and Responsibilities (including supervising others):
Pathologists will be responsible for designing and interpreting research-based pathologic studies for the purpose of developing novel, safe drugs (biologics) intended for human use. Experimental Pathology is part of the Translational Sciences (TS) Department within Research, and participates in many aspects of drug development, including target identification and validation, animal model development, efficacy study read-out, immunohistochemical-based assays, preclinical and clinical trial biomarkers development. Pathologists will also be required to give frequent presentations of findings in oral and written format and serve as Study Director and peer review pathologist for both GLP and non-GLP tissue cross-reactivity studies. The pathologists at Medlmmune participate in Translational Sciences sub-teams, and have frequent interorganizational and some outside collaborative contacts.
 
Experience: The candidate should have at least 5 years of work experience.
Special Skills/Abilities: The candidate should have complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and current concepts in the field. Knowledge in interpreting traditional diagnostic categories in the context of a current understanding of molecular and cellular biology is also highly desired.
 
Requirements/Qualifications: The position requires a D.V.M. or M.D. degree from an accredited veterinary/medical school, Board Certification in Pathology, and a track record of scientific productivity. A Ph.D. in pathology, virology, pharmacology, molecular biology and a subspecialty training in molecular genetics is highly desired, but not required.
