Battelle Toxicology Northwest is a multidisciplinary contract research organization of over 100 employees located in Richland, Washington with more than 30 years experience in conducting inhalation toxicology studies for the government and private industry. With our corporate headquarters in Columbus, Ohio and our sister laboratories at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, Washington, our combined research capabilities provide a scientific network that span the range from the fundamental science of proteomics and metabonomics to the development of new aerosol generation and exposure technologies. Our strengths in the inhalation sciences include the ability to design and conduct scientifically and technologically challenging, multidisciplinary research on the health effects of inhaled substances (i.e., aerosols, vapors, and particulates including nanoparticles).

Position Responsibilities

Battelle Toxicology Northwest is looking for a board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) Clinical Pathologist. The incumbent will be in charge of the clinical pathology laboratory, providing direction, consultation, and collaboration as needed. This includes but is not limited to evaluation and interpretation of clinical pathology data from animals exposed to various test articles. The clinical pathology laboratory is a well-equipped laboratory that provides hematology, clinical chemistry, and bone marrow evaluations for specific studies; there are 2-3 technical staff who perform the required procedures.

Functions will also include examination and interpretation of microscopic slides of various laboratory species (primarily rodents); supervision of necropsies and interpretation of findings; interpretation of pathology data and production of clear concise written reports; interaction with all levels of staff in pathology and other disciplines (toxicology, laboratory animal medicine, chemistry, engineering, molecular biology).

Required Qualifications


DVM with advanced training in veterinary pathology; board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) in clinical pathology or eligible to take the examination. Previous experience in rodent hematology and clinical chemistry, and hormone assays.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Board-certification by ACVP in anatomic pathology or eligible to take the examination. Experience in toxicologic pathology (or a strong desire to learn); experience with standard operating procedures in a GLP-compliant setting;
