Department of Health and Human Services
National Institutes of Health
National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)
THE POSITION: The Cellular and Molecular Pathology Branch
(CMPB) of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS),
is currently seeking a post-doctoral fellow with experience in fluorescence
and bioluminescence imaging to participate in collaborative and independent
molecular pathology research in support of the NIEHS and National Toxicology
Program (NTP).
The CMPB
investigates pathogenic mechanisms of toxicity and carcinogenesis of environmental
hazards utilizing rodent models of disease. This position will involve
the development and application of immunohistochemistry and fluorescence
and bioluminescence microscopy to localize and quantify specific proteins
in vitro and in vivo for research on spontaneous and chemically induced
neoplastic and nonneoplastic lesions and the mechanisms by which they are
induced.
The CMPB
manages state-of-the-art histology, immunohistochemistry, electron microscopy,
and special technique core laboratories, and provides diagnostic pathology
support to all NIEHS investigators and the NIEHS laboratory animal colony.
imaging, and special techniques (laser-capture microdissection, microarray
analysis). For additional information concerning CMPB, click on http://www.niehs.nih.gov/research/atniehs/labs/lep/index.cfm
THE QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Minimum qualifications include
a PhD or equivalent degree. Experience in immunohistochemistry and in vitro
and in vivo fluorescence and bioluminescence microscopy is preferred, and
the successful candidate should have the ability to work collaboratively
with personnel from multiple disciplines. Candidates with a DVM or MD degree
and interest in pathology are strongly encouraged to apply.
LOCATION: The Cellular and Molecular Pathology Branch
