The Department of Pathology at the Wildlife Conservation Society, Bronx, NY, announces the immediate availability of 1 full-time pathology position for an Anatomic Veterinary Pathologist. Minimum qualifications include a DVM or equivalent degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary college and ACVP board certification or eligibility. Preference will be given to individuals with prior experience in zoo animal pathology who are Diplomates of the ACVP or ECVP. Primary responsibilities will emphasize gross and microscopic diagnoses of case material originating from the zooâ€™s collection, which includes the Bronx, Central Park, Prospect Park, and Queens Zoos and The New York Aquarium. Additionally, opportunities exist for international collaboration in projects related to free-ranging wildlife through WCSâ€™ Field Veterinary and Global Conservation Programs. WCS has a full-service on-site histology laboratory and on-site molecular diagnostics laboratory for identification of known and novel pathogens. The successful candidate will join a staff that includes 3 ACVP board-certified pathologists and 3 necropsy and histology technicians.
