Assistant/Associate Professor of Veterinary Anatomic Pathology: The University of Nottingham’s School of Veterinary Medicine and Science (SVMS) is now accepting applications for a full-time faculty position in anatomic pathology. Candidates must possess a primary veterinary degree that is recognized by the the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and a further specialist qualification (MRCPath, ECVPath, ACVPath). Preference will be given to applicants who also have a doctoral (PhD/DVM) degree(s), additional advanced training in anatomic pathology, and/or diagnostic pathology experience. The successful applicant will play an important role in teaching and mentoring veterinary students and providing clinical service to associate and private practitioners. They will also be expected to supervise undergraduate student research projects and will be encouraged to develop wider independent or collaborative research projects.
The University of Nottingham’s SVMS is the newest veterinary school in the UK and has received praise from many sectors for innovations in teaching and the implementation of a ‘Clinical Associate’ model: delivering clinical rotations at high quality veterinary establishments, taught by motivated clinical educators, and lead by University of Nottingham staff. The School’s pathology section operates in collaboration with the Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratory Agency and the Minster Veterinary Practice in a single facility on the Sutton Bonington campus, providing an excellent environment for instruction and training in diagnostic pathology over a wide range of species including poultry, farm and companion animals. The University of Nottingham has four campuses in the UK and a Medical School located in the Queen’s Medical Center, and is rated 7th in the UK overall for university research power. The veterinary school shares the Sutton Bonington campus with the School of Biosciences and currently has strategic research areas in: Infection and Immunity; Population Health and Welfare; Comparative Medicine; Reproductive Biology and Veterinary Educational Research.
